India and the World Bank today agreed to further strengthen their partnership to advance India's green-growth agenda at a meeting today between Minister of State for Environment & Forests (Independent Charge) Jairam Ramesh, and World Bank Group President Robert B. Zoellick.

SICOM project launched

In a strong show of support, the Minister inaugurated the office of the Society of Integrated Coastal Management (SICOM). This will be the nodal agency for the Integrated Coastal Zone Management Project (ICZM) being implemented by the Government of India. Speaking at the event, the Minister emphasised the role of coastal ecosystems as a source of income, a foundation for economic development as well as a barrier against natural disasters.

Draft of the Traditional Coastal and Marine Fisherfolk
(Protection of Rights) Act 2009-10

An Act to recognize and vest the traditional rights and the occupation of fishing through traditional means in fisherfolk who have been residing in coastal areas for generations and carry on regular fishing activity in coastal and marine areas and to provide a framework for protecting the rights so vested.

Fishermen children education assistance scheme

CITES Annual Report 2009

International trade in all wild fauna and flora in general, and the species covered under CITES in particular, is regulated jointly through the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972, the Foreign Trade (Development Regulation) Act 1992, the Foreign Trade Policy of Government of India and Customs Act, 1962.
